Q5 Quick-Load products contain two distinct dyes (yellow and blue) which serve dual monitoring functions during electrophoresis. The blue dye co-migrates with 3–5 kb DNA fragments in a 1% agarose gel. The yellow dye migrates ahead of DNA fragments measuring less than 50 bp, allowing for efficient monitoring and assessment of smaller DNA fragments, including primers. The blue and yellow dye have excitation peaks at 615 nm and 421 nm, respectively.
