The Role of Histones as Substrates
Return to Histones & Nucleosome AssemblyRecombinant histones are used in studies of chromatin associated proteins both in enzymatic reactions and in binding studies. They can be the substrates for histone modifying enzymes and chromatin interacting proteins including:
- Histone Methyltransferases (1)
- Protein kinases (2,3)
- HAT (Histone Acetyltransferases) (4)
- Binding studies (5,6)
Antibodies are used to study histone modification, by immunoprecipitation, blotting or immunolocalization studies.
